It was founded in 1969 by the Milos Association of Athens. It is housed in a typical house of Milos in a privileged position in Plaka which was bought by the family of Phillipos Oikonomou in order to present the urban household of the 19th century through the organization of the spaces of a house, the appropriate furniture and decoration reflected the economic and social position of the family, the peculiarities of the daily life of Milos in the period after the revolution of 1821 until the interwar period. In the folklore museum of Milos there are exhibits of mansions, urban and rural houses. The objects - from mansions, urban and rural households - are displayed in the rooms of the house according to their use which are framed by concise texts and supervisory material.
